Blog Review 2/19: Panhandle South Plains Laissez-faire by Hills Snyder
This week, I am introducing the creative
work of Jeff Wheeler and Masie Alford. I found an article about them by Hills
Snyder by going to the 'More Posts' section of Glasstire. The art work or
posters that these individuals do stood out to me because they reminded me of
art I did in middle school with my friends. We would grab a sheet of scratch
paper and begin doodling random things all over the paper that had one thing or
another to do with each other. The art in the pictures posted in the article
are all very unique in their own way and Snyder is optimistic about all of the pieces.
The way she describes each photo with such great detail makes me think she has
a strong fondness of the art and its abstractness.

Project 1: Everyday - Day 15
This is my last photo for the 15-day photo project.
This was taken with my wonderful Nikon D5100 in my dorm.
This is a little project I worked on last semester for fun. I used toilet paper and paper towel rolls and white paint. It took a while to make but it didn't turn out so bad. I got the idea from Pinterest so no props for me.

This photo was taken with my Nikon D5100 on the TAMUC campus over by the Library.
A man named Patrick Doughtery produced this amazing sculpture from locally-harvested tree branches and a few other things from the environment. This really is one of the neatest things I have seen in a long time.
Project 1: Everyday - Day 12
Finally a photo that doesn't skip a day! This photo was taken with my Nikon D5100 on the Texas A&M University-Commerce campus by the Jerry D. Morris Recreation Center. I have always enjoyed bricks so I took a shot and got this. It is very simple but for some reason I really like it.
Project 1: Everyday - Day 11
Yes, I realize this is Day 11. I skipped another day. But are you surprised?
This photo was taken with my Nikon D5100 in a small town called Jefferson in East Texas on Mardi Gras weekend.
Project 1: Everyday - Day 9
Yet again I skipped another day so here is Day 9.
This photo was taken with my Nikon D5100 in my new dorm room at the bathroom sink. I really enjoy taking photos of things in motion and this water was one of them.
Project 1: Everyday - Day 7
I accidentally let another day slip past me without taking a photo so there will be no Day 6.
This was taken by iPhone as well. My roommate and me were accepted into Phase II so we packed our stuff and left Whitley Hall because we are not a fan of that place. This is right before my friends helped me move everything out of my room for inspection. Apparently I have "too much stuff."
Project 1: Everyday - Day 5
Unfortunately I didn't get a Day 4 photo. It completely skipped over my mind.
I had to take another photo with my iPhone. This time, it was taken at sunset in a moving vehicle. This gorgeous sunset was much more beautiful in person.
Project 1: Everyday - Day 3
This photo is not all that great but I tried. This photo was also taken with my iPhone. In Astronomy 1303, in a planetarium, we has some rubber stars tossed at us by the proffessor so he could show us he could changee the color of the stars in our hands just by changing the color of the dome. Originally, the star was neon yellow. The professor made the dome Magenta and this was the result. I found it very amusing.
Project 1: Everyday - Day 2
This definitely is not my best work when it comes to photography, This was taken from my iPhone at night which was not the smartest thing but when you have to take a photo a day and you're pushing 12 AM, you become desparate to take any picture whether it be good or bad. This is just a warning sign for a crosswalk leading to Whitley Hall.
Project 1: Everyday - Day 1
This is my first photo of the Everday photo project. Honestly, this photo wasn't even for the project, but part of a scavenger hunt project. If I had any other photo taken on January 28th to be my first photo for this project, I would post it. Just know this is not a photo I would have taken if I didn't have to. Anyway, this is a friend's teeth. I thought she had nice teeth out of everyone else I know so I took the oppertunity and asked her an awkward question... "Can I take a picture of your teeth?"
Blog Review 2/12 : Caleb Charland by Aline Smithson
This week, I am introducing Caleb Charland’s work. I found an
article about Charland by Aline Smithson by going to the Night subject of Photographers
on LensScratch. Night portraits have always caught my attention. This article
spiked my interest when it came to figuring out what exactly I was viewing in
each photo. Charland has a very original and unique way of producing photos.
When you scroll through his blog, you have to take a minute to observe each
photo carefully to interpret exactly what you are seeing. Some objects in
Charland’s photos were inspired from remodeling family homes with his father.
All photos are abstract, yet understanding. The photos almost seem to be two or
more pictures merged together at first, but then come together to make one stimulating
and distinctive photograph. Overall, the
article is portraying wonder and creativity. There is a quote by Charland that
says, ““For me, wonder is a state of mind somewhere between
knowledge and uncertainty.” I couldn’t agree more.
